All Branches of Hobsons Bay Libraries will be closed on Tuesday, 3rd November in accordance with the Melbourne Cup Day Public Holiday. After hours chutes are available at all sites and borrowers can access the library website to search the catalogue, reserve, request or renew items online. All branches will revert to usual operating hours from Wednesday, 4th November.

Launching this quarterly event are a workshop and open mic session sure to get your inner poet itching for release.
Peter Bakowski, published Melbourne born poet will conduct a workshop at 5.00pm giving practical information mixed with readings of his poems, opening your own thoughts of poetry and expression. A quick tea/coffee break ensures a clear fresh start to the open mic at 6.00pm where participants will have 2 minutes to convey their own poetry or something that inspires them.

Get started or continue on the journey of biographical writing with Goldie Alexander who has published three works of historical fiction.
Biographical writing is a way of exploring your own experience of life, other people's lives and places, topics and themes. It includes autobiography, memoir, travel, narrative non-fiction and biography. You can write about your year in Peru, your father's childhood in Outback Australia, the pottery in Bendigo, growing up in the suburbs - or about any of the experiences of a persons life.
Workshop the appropriate audience for your story and work on characters and plots to assist in writing your own biographical tale.
